School cook arrested for molesting students

Madikeri, Sep 21 (UNI) A cook with a residential school for SC/STs has been suspended from duty and arrested on the charge of sexually harassing girl students at Thithimathi in Kodagu district of Karnataka.

Police said the cook, Ravi, had been allegedly sexually harassing two girls for a long time. However, he came to light when he attempted to rape two more girls last week.

Based on the recommendation of Virajpet MLA H D Basavaraju, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Chief Executive Officer Sundar Naik suspended Ravi from duty. Meanwhile, the Ponnampet police arrested him last night after receiving a complaint from one Sushilakshi.

ZP President Ashok visited the school yesterday and warned the staff and department officials for hushing up the matter.
