Sabarimala temple closed

Pathanamthitta, Sept 21 (UNI) The Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala was closed today marking the culmination of "poojas" in the Malayalam month of Kanni with a 'Laksharchana".

Following "ushapooja" Tantri Kantaru Rajeevaru filled the "Brahma Kalasam" with sacred ash. Thereafter, 25 Brahmin scholars sat around the Kalasam and recited the "Harihara Sahasranamam" one lakh times.

After 'Athazhapooja' melsanthi M Sukumaran Namboodiri closed the temple amidst chanting of 'Harivarasanam.' The temple will be reopened on October 17.
