Ratan Tata assures cooperation to develop Bihar

Patna, Sep 21 (UNI) Investment Commission Chairperson Ratan Tata today assured to extend full cooperation and committed to facilitate development of the state by inviting investements in different sectors here.

Mr Tata, who arrived here along with a delegation of the investment commission set up to bring foreign Direct Investment in the country and facilitate investment flows into underdeveloped states, told newspersons here that he was surprised with the powwer presentation made by the secretaries of all most all major departments.

Lauding the presentation, Mr Tata said that the clarity, objectivity and the growth goal set up by the government was impressive. He said the state is on the right path and it will revitalise its place in the country.The only challenge before it is to monitor the execution of the projects which were quite ambitious.

The business giant said that the enthusiasm, optimism and genuine feeling for development of the state impressed a lot and promissed that in the capacity of the commissions chairman he would help Bihar in its development.

Mr Tata, accompanied by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Chief secretary G.S.Kang, said that he would apprise the Union Finance Minister of the immense potentiality for development of the state. He hoped that in coming months Bihar will witness new level of activities once the plans comes to the ground and promised to supplement the state in order to implement the progects.

He termed the discussion with the CM and the secretaries of different departments as informative and worthwhile.He however advocated to grant some more time to the state and be patient to get the fruits of the result oriented projects.

In the capacity of the chairman of the TATA group, Mr Tata said that his company would be visible in Bihar too as it is in the other states.

Member of the investment commission Ashok Ganguly who was also present in the press conference, too appreciated the power presentation for its clarity and objectivty and said that the presentation was encouraging and pleasant surprise for the commission. He hoped that the things would start reflecting by the end of this year and maintained that the commission would try to help Mr Kumar in achieving the goals fixed for different sectors.

The Chief Minister Nitish Kumar thanked the commission for visiting Bihar and for showing great interest in its developmental activities. He said being business tycoon and chairman of the commission and Mr Tata would guide the state in taking up the developmental projects.

He said the government has farmed law for attracting and promoting investemnts in different sectors.

Mr Kumar said Bihar was a big market and by exploiting the potentiality in agriculture processing, institutions, tourism, health, education, infrastructure development and others it can attain a new height on the developmental map.

He said power was a major sector and requested Mr Tata to invest into it.

Earlier chairman of the state planning board N K Singh told the reporters that Mr Tata observed that Bihar would change and certainly achieve its target as it was moving in proper direction.

After the power presentation, the Energy secretary M M Singh said that in the capacity of the investment commission chairman, Mr Tata assured to facilitate coal linkage for the power plants at Nabinagar and Pirpaiti.

Earlier separate delegations of Bihar Industry Association and Bihar Chamber of Commerce called on the Commission and handed separate memorandum to Mr Tata and Mr Ganguly.
