Punjab CM confident abour PM's relief package to farmers
Ludhiana, Sep 21 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today said he was optimistic that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would announce an economic package for the indebted farmers of the state during his visit here on September 27.
''I am confident that the Centre will concede our genuine demand as our farmers were already in great distress,'' he told mediapersons at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) campus here.
Mr Singh said the state government had already presented its case on rural to indebtedness the Centre. ''I have already attended the meeting of Chief Ministers of 11 states, jointly convened by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Finance Minister P Chidamabaram, to elicit their views on the rural indebtedness,'' he added.
