Public awareness needed to end ill-practices: Chouhan

Bhopal, Sep 21 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said public awareness was needed to end ill-practices such as 'Sati' and its glorification.

Commenting upon the 'Sati' incident in Chhatarpur's Baniyani village, Mr Chouhan told reporters here that a magisterial inquiry will be ordered into the incident.

Ninety-five-year-old Karouyya Devi had committed sati on her husband's pyre yesterday. Four people, including the woman's son, were arrested.

He assured that culprits will not be spared.
