Policeman swims despite body tied with rope
Varanasi, Sep 21 (UNI) In a show of gutsy swimming last evening, a policeman swam efforelexly through a swimming pool here, despite his body tied with a strong rope.
Suresh Babu Soni (44), a stenographer in the police department, swam the entire pool of the district stadium in five minutes.
This was not the first time Suresh has performed the rare feat, but the man from Allahabad claimed to have crossed the Yamuna river in his native place in a span of 27 minutes in the same posture in 1988.
''I replicated the 1998 feat only to draw the attention of record book makers for finding a place in the Guinness Book of World Records and Limca Book,'' said Suresh, who has also been felicitated for this rare skill by Uttar Pradesh Police in 2002.
