Policeman hurt in Gujjar group clash

Bharatpur, Sep 21 (UNI) A policeman was injured today in firing between two rival groups of the Gujjar community, who also pelted each other with stones in this district of Rajasthan.

According to the police, a long-time enmity and court cases between the two rival Gujjar groups were the reason behind today's firing and clash.

One group of the people had come to Bayana to enquire about the status of the court cases and was returning when Gujjars belonging to the other group attacked them with batons and home-made pistols outside a local court.

Sources said the Gujjars also attacked the policemen, who reached the scene on getting information. An assistant Sub-Inspector was injured in the firing. Three others were also hurt in the clash.

The police also fired shots in return.

The police seized three people in this connection and lodged a case against them.
