Police inspector in Kanpur removed for insulting BJP MLA

Lucknow, Sep 21 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today removed a police official from Kanpur for insulting BJP MLA Salil Bishnoi yesterday.

State PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav, announcing this in the state assembly, said inspector C D Gaur of Collectorganj police station in Kanpur had been removed for insulting Mr Bishnoi.

Earlier the entire house supported strict action against the erring police official for making insulting remarks against the assembly and the member. The MLA had also moved a privilege notice against the police official.

Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey has summoned both the inspector and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanpur to be present before him on September 25 on the issue.

The assembly is yet to approve recommandation of the privilege committee of the house on the action taken against the same officer for manhandling BJP MLA Bishnoi on September 14, 2004.
