Panesar should be in one-day team says Younis Khan

MUMBAI, Sep 21 (Reuters) Pakistan vice-captain Younis Khan said today he thought England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar would be as just as effective in one-day cricket as he is in tests.

Panesar, 24, has played 10 tests since making his debut in India this year but has yet to play a one-day international because of his comparatively indifferent fielding and batting.

''England must give him a chance in one-dayers as well. They need a good spinner like Panesar in one-day cricket, he should be more than just a test bowler,'' Younis wrote in his column in bigstarcricket.com.

''I wouldn't want to put too much pressure on him yet by saying he is one of the best spinners in the world, it is too early for that, but I certainly think he can have a good Ashes tour.'' REUTERS DH PM2026
