On heat transfer human body is perfect example: VSSC Director
Coimbatore, Sep 21 ( UNI) Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) Director B N Suresh today said the mechanism of the human body was the perfect example on heat transfer.
Inaugurating a two-day international conference on recent advances in 'Heat Transfer' at Karunya Institute of Technology and Science (KITS) here, he said the human body was capable of maintaining 98.6 degree heat even in varying climatic conditions-- with an extraordinary mechanism to transfer energy.
In the similar way, for any technology-- space, aviation or nuclear-- proper heat transfer was essential, he added.
Stressing the need for researches on the materials on which the heat is being transfered, Dr Suresh said satellite technology also required thermal control for maintaining heat.
Under scoring the need for evolving alternative sources of energy in the wake of depleting fossil fuel sources, he said solar energy was an option though it was expensive.
For any country like India, which is in the path of development, fuel self sufficiency would be vital, he added.
