Naxal zonal commander arrested
Ambikapur, Sep 21 (UNI) A Naxal zonal commander, carrying a reward of about Rs 2.50 lakh on his head, was today arrested from Jayraji forest in neighbouring Jharkhand during a joint action by Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh police, police said today.
Superintendent of Police Shivram Prasad Kalluri told UNI that on a tip-off, Jharkhand's Latehar-resident Sadhu Lohar alias Ramdev, who held number three position in the state CPI(Maoist) Chhattisgarh South Zonal Committee, was arrested.
Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh police had announced a reward of about Rs 2.50 lakh on his head.
Ramdev was active in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh's Balrampur and Jashpur districts. Several cases of murder, loot and arson were registered against the naxal commander, who was known as R-3 because of his position among the insurgents.
