MLA Pradeep Jaildar remanded to judicial custody

New Delhi, 21 Sep (UNI) Pradeep Jaildar one of the accused in a Youth Congress Demonstration case was remanded to judicial custody by the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court, New Delhi.

According to the sources, on July 25, 2000 Randeep Singh Surjewala,the then President of Youth Congress with other members demonstrated on Parliament Street and shouted slogans against Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the BJP government for the party's demands.

After agitation the members destroyed 10 to 12 police barricades.

The Parliament Street police station had registered a case against the 11 members of the Youth Congress including Randeep Singh Surjewala under different sections of the IPC. A non-bailable warrant was pending against the many accused in this case. One of the accused, Mr Pradeep Jaildar, MLA had filed a cancellation of non-bailable warrant on September 19,2006 in the ACMM court.

Mr Madan Lal , counsel for the accused argued before the court that he could not appear before the court as he was not aware of the present case.

At the time of his arrest he had given his correct address but did not receive any summons from the court.

The ACMM court observed that Pradeep Jaildar was repeatedly absenting himself from appearing before the court thereby abusing the process of law.

Under these circumstances the ACMM court remanded the accused to judicial custody.
