Mizo freedom fighter passes away

Aizawl, Sep 21 (UNI) Veteran Mizo freedom fighter R Vanalwama passed away last night after prolonged illness.

The 92-year-old R Vanalwama is survived by his wife, seven children and 15 grand children.

Born on January 10, 1915, Vanlawma entered politics after he got associated with Young Lushai Association (now Young Mizo Association) in 1944.

Mr Vanlawma was the first general secretary of the Mizo Union.

He received Padma Shree in 1998 for his commendable work.
