Mamata condemns Lalgarh blast, blames govt "inefficieny"

Kolkata, Sep 21 (UNI) All India Trinamool Congress(AITC) supremo Mamata Banerjee today expressed serious concern at the growing incidents of extremist violence in the state and blamed the West Bengal government for its alleged lackadaisical attitude in dealing with the menace.

''I express my full sympathy and solidarity with the victims of today's violence at Lalgarh, but also equally blame the state government for taking the issue lightly,'' Ms Banerjee told newsmen while commenting on the blast in West Midnapore district in which two policemen were killed and 29 others, including seven mediamen, injured.

''Today's incident is also a glaring example of the inefficiency and non-professionalism of the state police force in dealing with such danger despite spending several crores rupees on the modernisation and overhauling of the state police, '' the AITC leader alleged and demanded a thorough revamping of the entire anti-terrorist forces.

Meanwhile, she submitted a memorandum to West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi at Raj Bhavan, demanding withdrawal of government notification for acquiring 1,000 acre of farm land at Singur in Hooghly district for Tata's proposed small car factory.
