Mahindra launches small cargo 4 wheeler

Bangalore, Sept 21: Eyeing the growing small cargo four wheeler segment, Mahindra and Mahindra today launched a Maxx Maxi truck and the Bolero Pik Up.

Company Vice-President (Sales-Automotive sector) G Seshadri told newspersons here that Mahindra and Mahindra aimed at enhancing its presence to 50 per cent from last year's 33 per cent in the small segment. With an overall vehicle turnover of 1,50,000 last year, the segment recorded a growth of around 22 per cent. By pushing in new models, the company aimed at enhancing its pie, he added.

The new variation with a cargo carrying capacity of 900 kg had been strategically placed in the segment between the large three wheelers and the big pick ups. It would create its own niche market, he said, adding that the low investment and operating economy made the maxi truck an attractive vehicle for small businessmen and goods distributors.

He said the Maxx Maxi truck sported a strong chassis and its body provided more safety and strength even with heavy payloads. The DIi turbo engine was capable of delivering unmatched fuel efficiency.
