Kochar Commission term extended

New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) The government today extended till October 10 the term of the Justice R J Kochar Commission, inquiring into the collapse of the Daman Ganga bridge three years ago.

''The term of the Commission has been extended up to October 10, 2006'', an official spokesperson told reporters after the Union Cabinet meeting that approved the extension.

The extended time limit was earlier till September 12.

The Commission, probing the collapse of the bridge linking Nani Daman and Moti Daman, had completed the work of recording of evidence on August 8. It, however, requested for a short extension to complete the preparation of its Report.
