Infiltration bid foiled in Kashmir; 4 militants killed
Srinagar, Sep 21 (UNI) Troops foiled an infiltration bid when they shot dead four militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir today, a military spokesman said.
He said an Army column launched a search operation at Lachhipura village in the Uri sector at 0830 hrs.
When troops reached a particular place at Dachhiwar Nala, they were attacked by militants with automatic weapons and grenades.
The fire was effectively returned by troops, resulting in a fierce encounter which lasted about three hours, he added.
Later, troops found four bodies of militants during the search of the area, the spokesman said.
He said the militants had crossed the LoC via the Uri sector.
The spokesman said the search operation has been further intensified in the area to check for remaining militants, if any.
