Govt nod for flyover at Dhaula Kuan
New Delhi, Sept 21 (UNI) The Cabinet today gave its approval for the transfer of defence land near Dhaula Kuan to the state government for construction of a flyover and another 3263.82 sq mtrs for improvement of an intersection at Delhi Cantonment, to ease the traffic congestion in the national capital.
The PWD, Delhi government has been entrusted with the responsibility of constructing a major multi-level flyover at Dhaula Kuan crossing, an official spokesperson said after the cabinet meeting here.
The government also transferred 5.349 acres of defence land at Ordnance Depot, Shakurbasti to Delhi government's PWD for construction of missing link of Road No 43, based on a representation from the state government that Road No 43 was an important Master Plan Road, which commenced from Britannia Chowk at Ring Road and joins the Outer Ring Road passing through Shakurbasti, Pitampura, Mangolpuri Industrial area Phase 11 and a number of Group Housing Societies complexes.
The total lenght of the road is 5.25 Kms.
The Cabinet also gave approval of transfer of three acres and seven guntas or 1,38,303 sq ft of defence land at Air Force Station, Jalahalli to the Railways for construction of Salem-Yeshwantpur section bye-pass in Bangalore.
The cabinet decision will ensure faster clearance of train services and avoid reversal of engines on the bye-pass line at Yeswantpur which links the Yeshwantpur-Tumkur line along with the Yeshwantpur -Yelahanka/Yeshwantpur-Baiyappanahalli-Salem lines.
The total financial implication in this land transfer will be Rs 9,83,38,800 and will be borne by the Railway ministry.
