Patna, Sep 21(UNI) Bihar Governor R S Gawai today pleaded for an extension of reservation facilities for deprived classes to the private sector as well.

Addressing a function to mark the birth anniversary of former Bihar Chief Minister late Bhola Paswan Shastri here, the Governor noted that despite Constitutional provisions for reservation in various sectors, the facility had not covered all arms of the society due to ''lack of political power''.

The framers of the Constitution included the provision for reservation to the deprived classes not only as an ideology, but also to address a grave social problem, he said.

If social justice to all sections of the people was not assured, the nation would head for a revolution, he warned.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, paying rich tributes to Late Bhola Paswan Shastri, enumerated various steps taken by the government to uphold the Constitutional rights of the backward classes.

He also announced installation of a statue of late Paswan Shastri at Patna as a token of respect to the great leader.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav also addressed the function.
