Dhumal terms scam charge politcial vendatta

Shimla, Sep 21 (UNI) Terming the Rs 800 crore scam charge during his government's tenure as ''political vendetta'', former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister P K Dhumal today said the government was trying to implicate him in a false case.

''The state government is trying to implicate me in a false case with an eye on the assembly elections and its its failure to emulate the developmental works carried out by the previous BJP government,'' he said in a release here.

Mr Dhumal was reacting to state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh's statement that the government had unearthed Rs 800 crore scam during the previous BJP government's tenure.

The former chief minister said he was aware of the attempts being made to implicate him in a false case. ''The decision to implicate me a case was taken at a secret Congress meeting held at Dharamshala in Kangra district of the state recently.'' Asserting that all the decisions taken during his chief ministership were keeping in view the interests of the people of the state, Mr Dhumal said the government would not be able to cow him down.

''I'm ready to take on the government, which is trying to implicate me in a false case.'' He said the state government was trying to settle political scores with him for raising issues relating to irregularities in the various government departments of the present government.
