Criminal shot dead by police
Sagar(MP), Sep 21 (UNI) A criminal was shot dead as police opened fire in self-defence as the criminal's relatives attacked them with sharp-edged weapons and country-made guns at village Chaturbhata village near Surkhi in Sagar district yesterday.
Two constables suffered shot injuries in attack by the relatives of Bhagwan Singh, who was wanted in half a dozen cases, police said.
On a tip-off, a police party, led by Surkhi police station incharge J R Uike, reached the village and arrested him. In a bid to free him from police custody, his relatives attacked the police party.
The criminal also attempted to attack the police personnel with a pistol snatched from a relative. Police immediately responded and shot him dead.
Superintendent of Police M S Absar said a magisterial inquiry has been recommended.
