Cabinet nod to Rs 975 cr Power Grid scheme for Eastern Region
New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved the Eastern Region Strengthening Scheme-1 of Power Grid Corporation of India at an estimated cost of Rs 975.96 crore.
The project, to be completed in 36 months, will facilitate transfer of suplus power from eastern part of the Eastern Region grid to the central areas from where it would be further transmitted through the existing transmission system.
It will also facilitate transfer of additional power from the upcoming projects in Sikkim, Bhutan and North-Eastern Region through the chicken neck area with reliability, an official spokesperson told reporters after the CCEA meeting.
The estimated cost of the project will include Rs 45.72 crore as interest during construction.
