Bunge India launches new range of dalda edible oil

Kolkata, Sept 21 (UNI) Bunge India Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the US-based agro-processing major Bunge Limited, was eyeing for 25 per cent share in the Indian edible oil market by 2010 following its acquisition of the vanaspati division of the Hindustan Lever.

Speaking to newsmen during the formal launch of two variants, the new range of product-refined soyabean oil and kachi ghani mustard oil under the brand name of dalda in Eastern India today, BIPL Managing Director Adhiraj Sarin said following their acquisition of the HLL division last year they had conducted a research nationwide on the acceptability of the new product.

" Following an overwhelming response we have already launched the dual product in Northern and Southern India a few months ago and now we are launching it in the West and the East and are confident of geting similar response, " said Mr Sarin.

About the growth prospect of both products in the backdrop of an increasing health-conscious consumer base across the country, Mr Sarin confirmed that both edible oil products contained minium fat and retained the same pure taste as before.

Regarding his business target, Mr Sarin said during the current fiscal they were looking for achieving an overall annual target of Rs 1200 crore, Rs 350 crore more than the last year figure of Rs 850 crore.

In terms of increasing production facilities in a bid to capture wide market share, the Bunge was looking for the right opportunity to increase the number of its production unit from the present seven to ten within the next three years with an estimated investment of more than Rs 200 crore.

In addition the Company has two crushing units in Kerala and Rajasthan, Mr Sarin informed .

He, however, ruled out any immediate plan for attempting forays into the export market in order to concentrate more in the domestic area, the MD said.
