Bharti wins GSM licence in Channel Islands
New Delhi, Sept 21: Bharti Global, an offshore investment company of the Bharti Group, today said it has won a licence to provide GSM-based wireless services in Channel Islands.
Guernsey Airtel Ltd, a subsidiary of Bharti Global, has been awarded licences to operate 3G as well as 2G mobile services in Guernsey, the company said in a statement.
This is the third international telecom venture of Bharti. In May this year, Bharti was granted a license to run comprehensive telecom services, including 2G and 3G mobile services and international long distance services, in Jersey through its subsidiary Jersey Airtel Ltd.
Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman and Group MD, Bharti said, ''We are extremely delighted at being given the opportunity to provide telecom services in Guernsey and are committed to provide world-class telecom services to our customers in the region.''
