Thiruvananthapuram airport to get intl terminal
New Delhi, Sept 21: Union Cabinet today gave its approval to the Airports Authority of India for undertaking the construction of a new international terminal for the Thiruvananthapuram airport.
The construction of the first phase of the two-phase project at a combined estimated cost of Rs 245.88 crore is expected to be completed in 18 months from the date of award of the contract, an official spokesperson said after the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The project will have a foreign exchange component of Rs 26.92 crore, the spokesperson said.
Once completed, the peak hour passenger traffic at the airport will go up to 800 arrivals and as many departures compared to the present capacity of 260 arrivals and as many departures.
