25 MNS activists detained for agitation

Pune, Sep 21 (UNI) As many as 25 activists of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS) were detained today for blocking the office of Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr Nitin Kareer over the deplorable condition of city roads.

The MNS activists raised slogans and agitated in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) premises. PMC Commissioner Dr Nitin Kareer assured the activists that the issue was being looked into and speedy action will be taken.

Recently, Maharashtra Chief Secretary D K Shankaran sent circulars to Municipal Corporation heads state-wide to initiate penal action against contractors who have made substandard roads resulting in potholes and craters.
