20,000 memoranda submitted to collector
Cuddalore, Sep 21 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Agriculturists Association and All India Agricultural Labourers Association today took out a procession here and submitted 20,000 memoranda to the District Collector, seeking provision of two acres of land to the landless poor including SC/ST.
The procession from the Uzhavar Sandai to the collectorate led by agriculturists labourers association President G Mani was participated by about 8,000 farmers.
Other demands were provision of pattas to those cultivating in lands taken on lease and in lands owned by temples and mutts and provision of house site pattas to those who did not have houses.
They also urged the government to allocate Rs 1,000 crore for acquiring lands all over the state.
District Collector Gagan Singh Bedi later told newspersons that this was the first time such a large number of memoranda were received.
