10-year sentence for rape accused

Bikaner, Sep 21 (UNI) A fast track court here sentenced two rape accused to 10-years rigorous imprisonment each in the Bhaktu rape case.

However, 11 other accused in the rape case, which took place six years ago under the Bajju police station area, were let off as charges against them could not be proved.

The victim had registered a complaint at the Bajju police station on Aug 5,2000 that she was forcibly taken away by a group of 25-30 armed people who came in three jeeps to their village. They beat up her husband and brother-in-law and took her away. They kept her in confinement for 104 days and raped her repeatedly during the period.

The case was transfered from Kolayat court to the fast track court no. 1.

The accused, Nehrulal and Bansilal, were sentenced to 10-years imprisonment under Section 376 (2) of the IPC and also been fined Rs 2000.
