Man arrested not Qaeda militant: Yemen source

Sanaa, Sept 20: Yemeni authorities released a man today after a report that he was a member of al Qaeda planning attacks in the capital Sanaa turned out to be a hoax, a security source said.

The source earlier said a man carrying explosives was arrested in a crowded area of Sanaa. Yemenis are voting for a new president today.

''He turned out to be carrying medicines. It seems that his mother-in-law reported that he was a militant,'' he said.
