Women Congress Sewa Dal activists involved in fracas

Amritsar, Sep 20 (UNI) Will the real Amritsar Mahila Sewa Dal chief please stand up? A fracas broke out here today when a woman Sewa Dal activist walked into the district Congress headquarters and occupied the chair meant for the district chief of the Mahila Sewa Dal.

Claiming to possess a letter, supposedly signed by the All India Congress Sewa Dal president, Suresh Pachouri, Ms Kamlesh Saini occupied the chair meant for the head of Amritsar district Mahila Sewa Dal.

According to Congress sources, the letter signed by national Sewa Dal organising secretary Mrs Gurcharan Kaur, stated that Mrs Saini had been appointed head of the Amritsar district (urban) Mahila Sewa Dal.

However, when news about the incident reached district Sewa Dal leader Madhu Khanna, she along with her supporters entered the district Congress office and challenged Mrs Saini.

Mrs Khanna claimed that the letter was forged and she was still the district Mahila Sewa Dal chief.

Police rushed to the spot and managed to restore order.

No formal complaint has been lodged with the police by any of the factions.
