Vijaya Bank records 164 per cent growth

Guwahati, Sept 20 (UNI) Vijaya Bank, one of the public sector Banks, has earned a net profit of Rs 73 crore for the period ended June 30 this year as against Rs 28 crore previous year.

Recording an impressive growth of 164 per cent, a record for the Bank, Chairman and Managing Director Prakash P Mallya today said the Bank had achieved a capital adequacy ratio of 11.94 per cent as on June 30 this year as against the stipulated norm of 9 per cent.

As per the corporate policy of the Bank special emphasis had been given on agricultural and SSI advances to its customers, he said.

With the technological upgradation the Bank has a total of 128 ATMs interconnected to financial transaction switch and all the customers of CBS branches can use them, he said adding the Bank had joined the Real Time Gross Settlement System (RTGS) and 287 branches of the Bank are RTGS enabled.

Speaking at a press conference, Bank Chairman and Managing Director Prakash P Mallya informed that the total business of the Bank in the entire North East had been Rs 1572 crore of which Rs 1292 crore under deposit segment and Rs 274 crore was under advance segment respectively.

He said the Vijaya Bank opened its first branch 1974 at Fancy Bazar in Guwahati. Now the Bank has 22 branches spread across seven N E states and plans to open five more new branches and three extension counters in the region.
