TRS Chief to retract resignation only on Telangana assurance

Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 20 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) Supremo and Former Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao today said he would reconsider his resignation from the Lok Sabha only if the Congress High Command assured formation of separate Telangana state by September 23, 2006 when he was scheduled to meet Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.

Speaking to newsmen here this evening, Mr Rao, who was here on a visit to the flood-affected areas, said his party, which had five members in the Lok Sabha, would also announce withdrawal of support to the UPA Government at the Centre on the same day if the assurance was not forthcoming.

On the statement of the AP Sports Minister M Satyanarayana Rao he would support the Telangana cause if Mr Chandrasekhara Rao resigned and Mr Nayani Narasimha Reddy was made the TRS chief, he said it was not for other partymen to decide TRS leadership.
