Surya becomes first recipient of BEE energy lebel

New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) Surya Roshni Ltd, lighting company today became the first recipient in India for its tube lights to be labeled for their energy efficiency by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).

''This would help in a consumer led market transformation towards more energy efficient products and therefore lowering of energy bill of the consumers, as well as of energy shortages,'' Bureau of Energy Efficiency Director General Ajay Mathur said.

Ministry of Power Secretary R V Shahi presented the label authorisation to Surya Roshni Ltd Chairman and Managing Director B D Agarwal.

''It would help consumers to include the electricity costs when he makes a decision about which tube light he wants to buy,'' Mr Shahi said.

Surya Roshni will now be carrying the BEE label showing its products as 3-star or 4- star lighting products.
