Supriya, Lakshmi, Padmini, Sivasankari among 19 in joint lead

Chennai, Sep 20 (UNI) As many as 19 players with two points each shared the lead at the end of the second round of the National B chess championship for women here today.

The leading stars in the lead included defending champion Supriya Maji of West Bengal and three Asian medallists under three different age categories, Lakshmi Sahiti of Andhra Pradesh, the Asian U-15, Padmini Rout of Orissa, the Asian U-12 champion and P Sivasankari of Tamil Nadu, the Asian U-18 Bronze medallist.

Kerala's pride and the top seed in this tournament Nimmy A George (2197) had no difficulty in winning over lesser rated Ch Divyasri (AP) (2016).

Interestingly, in the second round itself many of the Tamil Nadu players exhibited their winning skills. They included P Sivasankari, P Uthra, Iswarya Shobana L N Raghavi, R Preeth, S Harini, Jennitha Anto, A Sithalatchumi, S Sujatha and Mahima Rajan.
