Kanpur, Sep 20 (UNI) At least six persons were injured after Samajwadi Party and BJP workers clashed here today.

The incident took place, when supporters of BJP MLA Salil Bishnoi allegedly ''tried to create a ruckus'' near Ram Narayan market, where SP leader Surendra Mohan Agarwal was attending a function.

Mr Agarwal is also financial advisor to the Uttar Pradesh government. Later, the two sides resorted to stone pelting.

Meanwhile, a case had been registered against Mr Bishnoi and four others by SP's city unit president Nasiruddin.

''BJP is almost finished in UP. Therefore, they are trying to create confusion with such tactics,'' Mr Agarwal alleged.

On the other hand, the BJP MLA said his party workers were also wounded, but no report was lodged due to pressure from the state government. Mr Agarwal was implicating innocent people in the case, he maintained.
