Schedule for introduction of Photo electoral rolls discussed

Chennai, Sep 20 (UNI) A sub-group of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) constituted by the Election Commission of India to deliberate on various electoral issues today discussed the schedule for introduction of Photo electoral rolls.

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Election Commissioner Mr R Balakrishnan deliberated on issues pertaining to updating the electoral rolls and the methodology and schedule for introduction of electoral Photo rolls in all the constituencies, an official release here said.

The sub-group also discussed maximisation of coverage of Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to the voters, the release said. It would finalise and submit its report shortly to the Election Commission of India.

This was the second meeting of the sub-group, comprising Mr Debashish Sen, CEO, West Bengal Ms Nalini Netto, CEO, Kerala, Mr U P S Madan, CEO, Maharashtra Mr Ravi Shankar, CEO, Uttranchal and Mr Naresh Gupta, CEO, Tamil Nadu.

The first sub-group meeting was held at New Delhi in the Election Commission of India on September one, the release said.
