Saddam trial resumes with new chief judge

Baghdad, Sep 20: The genocide trial of Saddam Hussein resumed today with a new chief judge Mohammed al-Ureybi after the Iraqi government sacked Abdullah al-Amiri for saying Saddam was ''not a dictator''.

The entire defence team of lawyers and six others for genocide walked out of court in protest after the chief judge was sacked by the Iraqi government.

The new chief judge ejected the ousted Iraqi leader from the courtroom for refusing to sit down moments after hearings began.

''Take him out of the courtroom,'' judge Mohammed al-Ureybi said. Guards escorted Saddam out.
