Reddy promises relief to the people
New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy said the UPA Government understands the pain of the people over the continuing court-mandated sealing drive in Delhi and, if need be, it would enact a legislation to amend the Delhi Master Plan 2001 to provide relief to the people of the capital.
Reacting to the Traders Bandh in capital during which several violent incidents took place in varioius parts of the metropolis, he said the government might convene a special session of Parliament to pass such a legislation.
Mr Reddy however appealed to the people to main peace and normalcy in the city.
The Urban Development Minister said his Ministry had already issued two notifications to allow certain shops in the residential areas and the notifications had not yet been rejected by the Court.
He said Parliament had the absolute powers to provide succour to the aggrieved people and it would be doing its duty if it failed to get any concessions from the court.
