Railway union demands announcement of interim relief
Jaipur, Sept 29 (UNI) All India Railwaymen Federation today demanded announcement of an interim relief by the central government pending the recommendation of the Sixth pay commission.
Addressing a press conference here today, federation president Umraomal Purohit said though the centre has announced the formation of the sixth pay commission, it has not yet started functioning. He said pending the recommendation of the commission, the central government should announce an interim relief to government employees.
He also asked the government to fill up about two lakh vaccant posts in the railways.
Secretary of the federation JP Chube said the Railways has put on hold the privatisation of the Kapurthala coach manufacturing unit but the government is under tremedous presure from the World Bank and International Monetary Fund to privatise these units.
He also said the railways has announed the performance-based bonous and now with the railways making a profit of Rs 10,600 crore, the Finance Ministry insisting on paying a bonous of 59 days is unaceptable.
The leaders were here to attend the fourth annual convention of the North West Railway Employees Union that began here today.
