One injured in firing

Chennai, Sep 20 (UNI) One person sustained bullet injuries when he was shot at by a member of the 15-member tourist group from Bangalore, at the tourist spot of Hoganekkal.

All the members, who were on a picnic, were under the influence of alcohol and the person, Venkatarama Reddy, who had opened the fire last evening was arrested, reports received at the Police headquarters here said.

The incident occurred when Reddy suddenly fired from his 9mm pistol and it lost direction and hit the local man. Reddy has proper license for the pistol.

The injured was admitted to Dharmapuri Government Hospital, where a surgery was performed to remove the bullet. His condition was stated to be normal.

Police seized the pistol and arrested the accused. The rest of the group members were allowed to proceed to Bangalore after questioning.
