NECC hails Arunachal government on MoU signing
Itanagar, Sep 20 (UNI) The North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECC) today complimented the Arunachal Pradesh government for deciding to sign Memorandum of Understanding with three power giants for executing various mega power projects in the state.
The MoU would be signed tomorrow with National Hydro-Electric Power Corporation (NHPC), North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for setting up around 21,000 mw power generation capacity in the state in presence of Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde along with Power Secretary R V Sahi and Joint Secretary A K Kutty.
''The signing of the MoU would go a long way in providing avenues for the educated unemployed youths of the state in addition to the state government's urge to boost the economy through investment by public enterprises,'' NECC general secretary Takam Sanjoy told UNI.
Chief Minister Gegong Apang and Power Minister Dorjee Khandu's decision to sign MoU with the PSUs would encourage more public undertakings to invest in various mega projects of the state, he added.
Appreciating the initiatives of Mr Shinde and Mr Sahi for enabling various parties to arrive at a amicable solution, Mr Sanjoy recalled the meeting he had with Mr Shinde along with a few delegates from North east during August last.
'' The signing of the MoU is one of the long-awaited promises made to the people of Arunachal by the Congress party in its last Assembly election manifesto, '' he said.
