MLAs favoured with lucrative appointments, alleges petitioner
Mumbai, Sep 20 (UNI) A public interest litigation filed in the Bombay High Court has alleged that MLAs had been favoured with appointments to government bodies and corporations without due consideration to their qualifications or background.
Mr Anil Bugade, who filed the petition, told the court that recently 36 appointments had been made wherein MLAs were made to head agencies like the BEST, MSRDC and others.
The petitoner told the division bench comprising justices R M Lodha and S A Bobde that these appointments were made only with a view to favour the MLAS who could not be accomodated in the ministry.
The petitioner contended that there had to be some guidelines for such appointments.
The court has asked the State Government to file an affidavit by November 16, submitting the reasons as to why the PIL should not be admitted.
