Mizoram set up Rs 4.8 crore industrial development centre
Aizawl, Sep 20 (UNI) With the aim to increase small scale industries in the region, Mizoram government has established an Integrated Industrial Development Centre (IIDC) at Pukpui in the southern part of Mizoram.
Zoram Industrial Development Corporation (ZIDCO), the state owned company, has been entrusted the task to implement the project in 35 acres of land at the cost of Rs 4.81 crore.
The main abjective of IIDC is to provide infrastructure and equipments to small industries such as carpentry and small machinery plants.
The IIDC is the 51st such centre set up under a Central government scheme throughout the country.
ZIDCO officials stated that they would also put more efforts to lead the state towards industrialisation through development of small and medium enterprises and would gear up its work on infrastructure building.
Upgradation of Zuangtui industrial estate under industrial infrastructure upgradation scheme involving Rs 50 crore is also contemplated.
Establishment of export promotion industrial park at Bairabi, Champhai and Tlabung and setting up of district industries centres in the new districts were also in the pipeline.
New avenues were also being explored for providing better road connectivity, sewerage and waste disposal system for industrial growth centres through Asian Development Bank (ADB) loan, the officials added.
