HP to probe delay in commissioning of Larji hydel project

Shimla, Sep 20 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said his government was considering a proposal to institute an enquiry into the irregularities resulting into the cost escalation of Larji Hydro Electric Project in the state.

''Several years had been lost in completing the Larji hydel project whose cost had escalated by several hundred thousand,'' he said, while addressing officers and employees of the HP State Electricity Board, here.

Mr Singh asserted that people involved in delaying the commissioning of the hydel project would not be spared, saying that the state had lost precious time and money due to the delay.

The Himachal government has launched a campaign to eradicate corruption from the state and whosoever was found involved in corrupt practices would not be spared, he said.
