Heavy rains forecast in Gangetic WB, Orissa, coastal AP

Pune, Sep 20 (UNI) Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur at most places in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Heavy rains are likely to occur at most places in Telangana and at many places in Chattisgarh, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka, and Kerala.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jharkhand, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Lakshadweep and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalseema, interior Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Tamil Nadu.

The Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and active over Gangetic West Bengal. It has been subdued over Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Extremely heavy rains have occurred at most places in Telangana.

Heavy rains have occurred at most places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places in Saurashtra and Kutch.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Orissa, Marathwada, coastal Karnataka and at many places in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Vidarbha, north interior Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep and at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, south interior Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Jammu and Kashmir, east Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalaseema, and Tamil Nadu.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, west Rajasthan and east Madhya Pradesh. Day temperatures were appreciably to markedly above normal in west Rajasthan.
