Shillong, Sep 20 (UNI) Meghalaya government has taken steps to ensure that 'genuine' Indian citizens are not harassed during the anti-infiltration drive against illegal Bangladeshi migrants entering into the state.

Addressing the newsmen here yesterday state Home Minister Robert Garnet Lyngdoh said the residents can immediately lodge complaint with the police if they are harassed.

The Home Minister had made it clear that the government is not using Asom as the 'dumping ground' of illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

''We asked them to go back to Asom as they claimed to have come from that state,'' he said.

Earlier, the state government had pushed a large number of suspected migrants to Asom after they failed to produce valid documents to prove their identities.
