Fast track court sentences five to life imprisonment

Vijayawada, Sep 20 (UNI) The city's fast track court judge today sentenced five people to life imprisonment for murdering three members of a family.

The judge P Ramaniah sentenced M Uma Maheswar, Tirumalasetti Sivaiah, S Balaji, C Durga Malleswara Rao and M Maruti kumari to life imprisonment under section 302 of IPC for murdering N Venkata Satya Subramanyaeswari, her husband N Sundaram and her daughter Ramakrishna Naga Ratnambika over property dispute on January five, 2004.

The judge also sentenced M Eswarnath to two years imprisonment, besides imposing fine of Rs 5,000 and P Krishnaiah to one month imprisonment and a fine of Rs 500 for assisting the accused and giving shelter to them after the incident.

The five accused had hacked to death the trio with an axe at their residence.

The police has taken up the case on a complaint by local corporator Tulasi Lavanya after foul odour emanated from their house.

Later the accused were arrested within a week and sent to prison for about three months before they were released on bail.

The accused would be kept in sub-jail in the city, before being moved to Rajahmundry Central jail within two-three days, police said.
