Fake currency seized, five arrested in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police has busted a gang of five persons involved in transaction and distribution of counterfeit currency in south Kashmir today, a police spokesman said.
He said counterfeit Indian currency amounting Rs 39,000 have been recovered from the gang.
A police spokesman said this gang used to lure many citizens of the Pulwama to finance the militants and subversive activities across the country.
Those arrested included Tariq Ahmad Indrabi, Abdul Gani Lone, Ghulam Mohiuddin Ganie, Farooq Ahmad Sheikh and Reyaz Ahmad Shah, he said.
The case under relevant provisions of law was registered and further investigation in the matter is on.
Meanwhile, Special Operation Group (SOG), Baramulla apprehended one Basharat Saleem alias DD.
He was affiliated with Harkat-ul-MUjahideen militant outfit and was wanted by the police.
