European honour for CUSAT research on 'microwave mammography'

Kochi, Sep 20 (UNI) A research paper by a student of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) on breast cancer detection using 'Microwave Mammography' has been adjudged the best paper at the 36th European Microwave Conference recently.

A CUSAT spokesman said today that the conference was held at Manchester, UK, from September 10 to 15. The award for research student G Bindu consists of a citation and a cash award.

The Microwave Tomography and Materials Research Laboratory of the Electronics Department of CUSAT is a pioneering research centre in India engaged in microwave imaging for medical applications, the spokesman said.

The Centre has been set up with funding from the Department of Science and Technology of the Central Government under the supervision of Dr K T Mathew.
