Either operate Shahabuddin or shift him to Siwan jail - Court

Patna, Sep 20 (UNI) Patna High court today directed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) that either RJD MP Md Shahabuddin would undergo operation with his consent till October 9 or would have to return to Siwan jail.

After going through the detailed medical report of Md Shahabuddin sent by the AIIMS where the MP was undergoing treatment for his spinal chord ailments, a single bench of the court of Justice V N Sinha sought the progress made for holding the trial of the cases related to Md Shahabuddin through video conferencing.

On the prayer of the counsel of Md Shahabuddin for allowing his family members, including his wife and some close relatives, to be at present AIIMs for the surgery, the court gave free hand to the state government for taking a decision in their regard acording to the jail manual.

In the medical report, AIIMS had mentioned that Shahabuddin had been suggested surgery by the experts but the MP had not given his consent for the same.

Meanwhile, the Advocate General informed the court that trial through video conferencing was too expensive and the government was negotiating with the BSNL for the same.
